The Japanese yen rate in South African rand tells you how much the rand is worth against the yen on the day the official rate is published. Importers of vehicles, electronics and machinery from Japan check it to see what a shipment priced in yen will cost them in rand before they commit to an order.
Where the rate comes from
The yen figure is taken from the reference source (Frankfurter), not from the central bank, and it carries the date of its own rate: . Rates are published once on working days, so the figure you see is the official rate of the day, not a moving quote.
Using the converter and tables

- Check the rate date before you rely on a figure.
